Homefront (CAN)

Canadian band Home Front fuse Oi! punk energy with 80s synth pop melancholia to create their own fresh take on shoegaze – or rather: Boot Gaze.

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Home Front blend punk, post-punk and new wave with a fierce injection of hardcore synthpop. Described as a “clash of Oi! and synth,” their sound defies genre boundaries, earning them labels like Boot Wave or even a new style of shoegaze.

Their debut album Games of Power (2023), released on North London’s La Vida Es Un Mus (Belgrado, Fatamorgana, The Chisel), was produced by Jonah Falco (Fucked Up) and brims with anthems for the end times. “Contact” shimmers like a euphoric New Order single at the end of a John Hughes film, “Crisis” is a Krautrock-y second spin down Kraftwerk’s Autobahn, and “Nation” – an Oi!-infused family affair – features vocals from Cal of The Chisel.

With a second album recorded and ready, Home Front are set to deliver an explosive, genre-smashing live show at Grauzone.
