A cult figure in Montreal’s underground, Annie-Claude Deschênes is best known as the electrifying frontwoman of Duchess Says and member of psychedelic punk outfit PyPy. Renowned for her chaotic, intensely physical live performances, she blurs the boundaries between electronic music, darkwave, punk and performance art.
Her debut solo album Les manières de table, released in 2024 on Italians Do It Better (Curses, Mothermary), transforms dystopian darkwave and minimal synth-pop into a surreal exploration of social etiquette and conformity. Strange, theatrical and unpredictable – Deschênes turns every performance into an experience.
