Aurat (Us)

Los Angeles-based Aurat, meaning “women” in Urdu, fuse post-punk, darkwave, industrial and electronic music with Urdu lyrics, bringing a distinctive Pakistani-American perspective to the contemporary underground.

Led by vocalist Azeka Kamal, Aurat combine haunting vocals, hypnotic basslines and atmospheric electronics with a fiercely DIY punk spirit. Drawing from classic post-punk and wave while refusing to be confined by genre, they create a sound that is dark, experimental and unmistakably their own, bridging cultural identity with the shadowy world of contemporary darkwave.
