Grenzkontrolle (ger)
We’re excited to welcome Grenzkontrolle to Grauzone 2027. Hailing from Cologne, the four-piece move between post-punk, political art and cultural collage, transforming social tension and contemporary realities into urgent, energetic music. Blending driving post-punk with sharp rhythms and subtle funk influences, Grenzkontrolle channel personal experiences into wider reflections on memory, resistance and the state of modern society.
Their EP Piraten draws inspiration from the Edelweißpiraten -the anti-fascist youth resistance group active in Cologne during the Nazi era- connecting historical resistance with present-day questions of identity, solidarity and social responsibility. Following the release of singles such as Neumarkt, performances at major festivals and support shows with Sleaford Mods, Grenzkontrolle are rapidly emerging as one of Germany’s most compelling new post-punk voices. We’re very happy to present them at Grauzone 2027.
