Grote Geelstaart is one of the Netherlands’ most exciting new noise-rock acts, known for their wild genre-switching, explosive energy, and theatrical stage presence. Their live shows feel like being strapped into a runaway car: two drummers push the tempo to its limits, the bass locks into hypnotic drones, and the vocals oscillate between shouts, screams, whispers, and unhinged proclamations.
Just when the audience settles into a wall of noise, the band veers left—straight into disco beats, angular synthwave, or robotic vocoder passages. Grote Geelstaart thrives on surprise, constantly shifting gears and pulling the entire room along for the ride.
Over the past two years, the band has built a fierce reputation through support slots for Marathon, Iguana Death Cult, YHWH Nailgun, RONKER, and packed appearances at festivals across the Netherlands. Their first single Barch (2024) and follow-up Drie Harige Ratten (2025) introduced listeners to their oddball blend of aggression, humor, and left-field danceability. Their upcoming debut EP Van Reijnst marks the next step in a trajectory that feels unstoppable.
