For over two decades, Boston-based Marissa Nadler has carved out a singular place in the musical landscape, creating dark, hypnotic gothic folk where shadowy Americana, dream pop, ambient soundscapes, shoegaze and experimental textures converge. At the heart of it all are her mesmerizing mezzo-soprano voice and intricate fingerstyle guitar, drawing the listener into an intimate, mysterious and otherworldly world.
Since her breakthrough debut Ballads of Living and Dying (2004), Nadler has built an extraordinary body of work defined by spectral beauty, haunting melodies and deeply evocative songwriting. A visual artist as well as a musician, her background in painting and drawing feeds directly into the cinematic and dreamlike quality of her songs.
Over the years, Nadler has collaborated with an impressive range of artists, including John Cale of The Velvet Underground, Angel Olsen, Cocteau Twins’ Simon Raymonde, Mary Lattimore, Xasthur and the Kronos Quartet.
Her new album, New Radiations, released in August 2026 on Sacred Bones, finds Nadler once again evolving her sound while remaining unmistakably herself: expansive, melodic, deeply personal and emotionally vivid.
