Retro-synth-goth-pop band Mother Mary is composed of 2 identical twin sisters that escaped a Mormon cult when they were young women. Twin sisters Larena and Elyse Winn transformed personal upheaval into something dark, sensual and hypnotic. After leaving their religious upbringing behind and reconnecting in New York, the duo forged MOTHERMARY: a captivating blend of darkwave, synthpop and cinematic electro-pop, both retro-futuristic and emotionally charged.
Combining ethereal vocals with gritty synths, the duo explores themes of sexuality, religious control and the impossible expectations placed on women within patriarchal belief systems.
