Penelope Trappes (uk)

Vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist Penelope Trappes crafts immersive sonic worlds where voice, drone and atmosphere intertwine. Classically trained in opera and jazz, she channels this background into brooding, subterranean compositions that explore themes of grief, power, memory and transformation. Her fifth full-length album A Requiem (2025, One Little Independent Records) is a haunting collection of ambient incantations, built from transcendent cello drones and macabre gothic textures.

Across an acclaimed discography spanning releases on Houndstooth, Nite Hive and Paralaxe Editions, Trappes has continually expanded her artistic language, from deep-listening compositions to minimalist piano works and austere electro-acoustic experiments. Her live performances, often accompanied by hypnotic visuals from Agnes Haus, unfold as tidal waves of tension and release.
