PIXEL GRIP (US)
Chicago-based electronic trio Pixel Grip have been making waves since 2019 with their multifaceted, high-voltage synth sound — a visceral blend of darkwave, pop, and industrial grit. Fronted by Rita Lukea with Jonathon Freund on synths and Tyler Ommen on drums, the group has built a cult following for their seductive, avant-garde aesthetic and electrifying live shows.
Their latest album, Percepticide: The Death of Reality (2025), is a bruising, hypnotic thriller that oscillates between the ethereal and the absolutely vicious. It’s packed with ghostly synths, pounding basslines, and moments of pure catharsis — like on “Reason to Stay,” which seduces with elegance before erupting into a raging chorus that demands you move. The record explores the psychological fallout of betrayal and trauma, cycling through rage, grief, and rebirth.
The word Percepticide — coined from percipere (to perceive) and -cide (to kill) — captures the album’s central idea: the destruction of perception itself. Recorded over three years between Los Angeles and Chicago, the album mirrors each member’s personal battles with addiction, neglect, and emotional rupture, turning private pain into shared release.
Often exploring themes of desire, power, and liberation, underground cult classics such as “ALPHAPUSSY” & “Demon Chaser” have been used in campaigns by high-end fashion powerhouses such as VERSACE & Alexander Vauthier. Relentless touring and placements with major brands have helped them amass over seven million streams and cementing their place at the forefront of modern electronic music.
In 2024, the band toured as direct support for HEALTH and DEHD, followed by their own sold-out North American headline tour. Whether under strobe lights or a blood-red sprinkler system, as one fan put it:
“If you’re a hot vampire and you like to dance with other hot vampires at night while blood rains from sprinklers, then this is the music you need.”
