Primal Baby (NL)
Primal Baby is the explosive collaborative project of Dutch vocalist Mila V and producer / DJ Parrish Smith—two artists deeply embedded in the underground and both previous performers at Grauzone. Born from a shared fascination with the ecstatic, violent, and transformative aspects of sound, Primal Baby merges the worlds of post-punk, industrial metal, goth rock, and dark electronic ritualism.
Shaped by emotional turbulence and existential reflection, the project draws inspiration from Skinny Puppy, Chelsea Wolfe, Trent Reznor, and the raw physicality of early industrial music. Yet Primal Baby is no homage: Mila V’s esoteric, commanding vocals and Parrish Smith’s distorted, high-intensity production form a unique sound that is at once brutal, vulnerable, seductive, and transcendent.
Joined live by multi-instrumentalist Kay Alvarado, the trio creates an immersive hybrid of performance and sonic assault—heavy, sensual, and cathartic. Their debut EP Archetype, released on Smith’s label Enter The Darkbeat, reveals their wide emotional and stylistic palette: punishing riffs, metallic rhythms, ritualistic atmospheres, and moments of eerie fragility.
More than a band, Primal Baby feels like a manifestation of two artistic spirits meeting in a shared dream-state, painful, ecstatic, and defiantly honest. We are proud to welcome Primal Baby to Grauzone.
