Villanelle (Sp)

Meet Villanelle the newly formed Barcelona-based duo founded by Italo-Argentine interdisciplinary artist Jessica Bellomo and Carmilla Sioux. Bringing together two distinct musical backgrounds, they create a powerful blend of dark disco, electro, breakbeats, EBM, techno and trance. Their sound moves between hypnotic club rhythms, driving basslines, icy synth layers and haunting Italian vocals, drawing on the darker edges of electronic music and underground dance culture.

Both artists bring their own experience to the project. Bellomo has developed a practice spanning music production, DJ sets and live performances, while Sioux started out as a bassist in the post-punk scene before moving into electronic music as a DJ and producer. She also founded the club night and platform From Hell To Disco in 2024. Their collaboration began with the foundations of Infrarosso, VILLANELLE’s debut single: Sioux’s bassline became the starting point, with Bellomo building layers of synthesizers around it. The result is a track that balances raw energy with an atmospheric, nocturnal feel.

Influenced by artists such as Pet Shop Boys, Ladytron and Boy Harsher, VILLANELLE explore the tension between body and machine, darkness and movement. Their Italian vocals become part of the rhythm itself, adding another hypnotic layer to their sound. Visually, the duo embrace a world of nocturnal elegance, physical presence and dark, cinematic atmospheres.

VILLANELLE are a completely new act, and Grauzone will be their first-ever performance in the Netherlands. We’re excited to welcome Jessica and Carmilla to The Hague for their live set. Don’t miss the chance to discover this emerging duo!
