Zonbi (fr)

From Haiti to Paris by way of punk, jazz and ritual, ZONBI channel explosive energy into a fierce and uncompromising sonic world. Formed in 2024 the Paris-based outfit fuse the urgency of post-punk, the freedom of free jazz and the raw pulse of Haitian roots music into something visceral, hypnotic and politically charged.

At the centre of ZONBI’s sound are dissonant saxophone incantations, frenetic rhythms and Dimitri Milbrun’s lyrics sung in Creole, invoking ancestry, resistance and historical memory. Named after the Haitian figure condemned to wander between worlds, ZONBI reject passivity and confrontation is central to their music: not made to comfort, but to awaken. Part concert, part ceremony, their performances unfold like a ritual of rhythm, trance and insubordination.
